Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 Friendly Fire Guide

Does Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 have friendly fire? This guide separates confirmed ability interactions from preview observations and unverified rules.

Does Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 have friendly fire? The collected preview says that abilities can cause friendly fire, but it does not publish a complete rule for every weapon, ability, difficulty, or mode. Use that statement as preview evidence, not as a final damage table; exact launch behavior is unverified until tested in the released build.

What the source actually confirms

AvP Galaxy’s Horde preview explicitly discusses friendly fire from abilities. That is enough to warn teams that a deployable, explosive, or area effect may harm allies, but it is not enough to say every gun damages teammates. The preview also describes challenge cards from all players, random enemy factions, and increasingly dangerous waves, all of which make accidental team damage worth checking.

The official homepage confirms a four-player co-op structure and deeper class customization. It does not state a universal friendly-fire setting. Keep the preview statement and official co-op description separate when explaining the rule.

Abilities to test first

Start with abilities that create an area or explosive effect. The collected official class material names Shrapnel Grenades, Rocket Mines, Blast Cannon, Gas Turret, Rumble Turret, Poison Station, and other deployables, but it does not assign a friendly-fire value to each one. The safe wording is that their ally-damage behavior is unverified unless the game UI or a repeatable test confirms it.

Test one ability at a time with a teammate standing at a measured distance. Record the ability name, class, difficulty, target position, visible health change, and whether armor or temporary health absorbs the effect. A short video is stronger evidence than a verbal report because it shows the cast and the result together.

Weapons versus abilities

Do not infer weapon friendly fire from ability friendly fire. A preview comment about abilities does not prove that the M41A2 Pulse Rifle, L56A3 Smartgun, shotgun, railgun, or plasma weapons damage allies. The collected material confirms those weapon names but not their ally-hit rules.

The same separation applies to elemental ammo, Piercing Rounds, and explosive weapons. Day-1 notes describe ammo stacking and compatibility, but those rules concern ammunition systems rather than teammate damage. Keep weapon tests and ability tests in separate evidence rows.

Co-op habits while the rule is unclear

Call out an area before using a blast, turret, poison field, or other persistent effect. Avoid placing a deployable on the only revive path until the team knows whether it can hurt or obstruct allies. In narrow corridors, leave one fallback lane so a teammate can retreat without crossing an unverified effect.

These are low-cost habits derived from the preview warning, not proof that every listed tool causes damage. If the game displays an ally-hit indicator or damage number, capture it and update the relevant ability page. Until then, mark the interaction unverified.

Difficulty and mode differences

Friendly-fire behavior may be consistent across modes or may change with difficulty, but the collected sources do not say which. Horde is a useful repeatable environment because the preview describes wave transitions and a decision to extract or continue. Campaign and Horde should still be tested independently rather than assuming one result transfers.

For each test, declare player count, map, difficulty, ability rank, and whether a challenge card is active. Repeat with a teammate at full health and at temporary health if the UI exposes both. Do not publish a percentage or damage multiplier without direct evidence.

Current answer for players

Plan as if abilities may cause friendly fire until your group verifies the current build. The preview supports that caution, while the complete weapon and mode rules remain unverified. Update this page with screenshots or official patch notes when each ability category is confirmed.

The friendly-fire observation comes from AvP Galaxy’s Horde preview; official class and co-op context comes from the Steam announcements and official homepage. The embedded preview video is not treated as proof of final launch values.
