Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 Couch Co-op Guide

Can Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 play couch co-op? Check the sourced platform and player information here; split-screen support and local limits are unverified.

Is couch co-op available in Aliens Fireteam Elite 2? The collected official listings confirm online co-op for up to four players, but they do not confirm split-screen or same-device local multiplayer. Do not promise couch co-op from the four-player figure; local support and platform-specific limits are unverified.

What is confirmed

The official homepage describes co-op for up to four players and cross-platform co-op. PlayStation’s listing says up to four online players, with online play optional and one player supported for the product listing. Steam’s collected store data also identifies online co-op, but none of these entries confirms split-screen.

Online co-op and couch co-op are separate features. A game can support four remote players without supporting two local players on one device. Keep that distinction in the page title answer and avoid treating “online play optional” as proof of local multiplayer.

What remains to verify

The current source pack does not state whether two controllers can join the same campaign or Horde session on Steam, Epic, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or the announced Switch 2 version. It also does not say whether local players need separate accounts, whether the screen splits, or whether local and online players can mix. All of those details are unverified.

The cleanest verification is an in-game test on each platform. Connect two controllers, open the co-op or local-play menu, and record the exact option text. Then launch a short mission and check whether both players can select classes, access inventory, revive, and save progress.

Do not confuse solo with couch co-op

A one-player listing or the presence of companion Bots answers a solo question, not a local multiplayer question. Bots may fill a squad slot for a solo campaign, while a second person on the same device may still be unsupported. The Bot behavior page records launch fixes, but it cannot establish couch co-op support.

If the game only offers online co-op, a household can still play together using separate supported devices and an online connection, subject to each platform’s account and subscription rules. That is a workaround, not couch co-op. Label it clearly so visitors do not mistake it for split-screen.

Platform and subscription context

PlayStation’s listing requires PS Plus for online multiplayer, while the product page also says online play is optional. That requirement applies to online console play and does not confirm anything about local co-op. PC storefronts list online co-op, but local-controller support is not established by those tags.

The official launch platforms are Steam, Epic, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5, with Switch 2 dated for September 29, 2026. Switch 2 local or crossplay behavior is especially unverified in the collected material because its release is later than the current launch date.

How to update this page safely

Add local support only when a store page, official FAQ, patch note, or direct in-game test states it. Capture the platform, player count, input method, mode, and whether the session is split-screen or shared-camera. If one platform supports local play and another does not, make the difference a separate table row.

Until that evidence appears, the accurate answer is “online co-op is confirmed; couch co-op is not confirmed.” That wording gives players a useful expectation without inventing a feature. Recheck after platform patches and the Switch 2 launch.

Online co-op and player-count evidence comes from the official homepage, PlayStation listing, and collected Steam store information. Split-screen, local limits, and mixed local-online play remain unverified.
